Ken’s Professional Background

With over eight years of clinical mental health experience, Ken is a Christian mental health counselor who offers solution-focused and person-centered interventions in his virtual sessions. His therapeutic styles include cognitive, behavioral, dialectical, psychodynamic, trauma recovery, and emotionally focused approaches. While Ken is equipped with a Master’s level education, the true source of his education comes from being in the school of Christ. Ken’s approach to therapy is grounded in a deep humility for the Holy Spirit’s leading. He has developed techniques aimed at helping individuals get out of their own way and align their lives with God’s plan. His methods, which have shown incredible success with his clients, will show you how to begin letting go of unhelpful thinking patterns and choose to a life that reflects the Wonderful Creator’s design.

Ken’s Personal Journey and Faith

Ken set out on his prodigal journey around the age of 16 where he began chasing indulgence and gratification, losing sight of God’s purpose for his life. In his 20s, Ken faced painful personal loss and trauma. The sudden death of his mother from heart complications due to cardiomyopathy, followed by his sister’s fatal drug overdose, deeply affected him. At 26, Ken survived a devastating car accident, which left him in a coma for three weeks and caused multiple injuries that included 2 strokes and 2 brain injuries. This period marked a turning point in Ken’s life, leading him to embrace a spiritual, physical, cognitive, emotional, and social rehabilitation.

Specializations and Therapeutic Approach

These experiences have profoundly shaped Ken’s empathetic approach to counseling. Through his rehabilitation and education, he realized the purposed God had designed him to accomplish. Now, he specializes in treating anxiety, depression, addiction, and other mental health issues, and is skilled at helping individuals develop effective behavior and communication patterns. Development through life taught Ken many lessons which he uses to guide his practice. Ken also has a passion for working with couples. Ken does not hold back in his couples counseling sessions! His goal is to identify what is causing disturbance and provide suggestions to help get you both out of unhelpful patterns that play on repeat. He will help you grow toward establishing new, healthy relationship norms.
