Ken Knoechel
Expert Clinical PsychoanalystI am a licensed clinical psychoanalyst in private practice in the virtual space where I provide psychotherapy for adult individuals and couples. I am a clinical counselor in Ohio and Tennessee, certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). I use my expertise as a clinician to provide proprietary services as a life coach and relationship coach around the world.
I’m a licensed therapist and certified life coach, and my heart is to help you find the freedom to design the life you want to live. I train your mind and heart to see God in your everyday experience as you remain poised and composed. I’m equipped with a heart for humanity and have a passion to see you succeed in your daily experiences.
I received my Bachelor’s degree in addictions and psychology from Liberty University and went on to do my graduate work at Wright State University where I studied chemical dependency and clinical mental health counseling. I spent six years at Kettering Health Psychiatric Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. I now offer teletherapy and virtual coaching from Chattanooga, Tennessee. When I’m not working, I’m either remodeling something in my house or traveling the world with my wife to venture through new places and experiences together.
My Journey and Approach
It all started around age 16 when I started going down my own prodigal path. The partying and chasing after immediate gratification was like a blinding veil over my heart. I couldn’t see how God was trying to work in my life. By the time I was in my mid-20s I had experienced a series of losses. My mother died suddenly from cardiomyopathy, and then my sister died from a fatal overdose. I was 26 years old when I was in a devastating car accident that resulted in multiple injuries, two strokes, and two brain injuries. I spent three weeks in a coma where I took a much needed pause on my prodigal journey.
Now I see that God used all of that to refine my understanding of what it really takes to shape a life worth living. I learned the principles of how to design psychological truths supported by the Word that bring you to a greater awareness of your relationship with others, with God, and with yourself.
What Makes My Work Different
I have over nine years of clinical experience that I fuse with a solution-focused and person-centered approach. My approach is steeped in a deep understanding of the Christian faith that allows me to better discern the truth of how you see yourself and the world around you. I have a therapeutic toolbox of cognitive, behavioral, dialectical, psychodynamic, trauma recovery, and emotionally focused therapy skills. I use them all in concert to connect with you and the Holy Spirit. You will see change after meeting with me! My methods work to bring you relief in the storm you might be experiencing right now.
What sets my work apart is not found in my education alone. My greatest achievement has been my education in “the school of Christ”. This education is the foundation for how I see my work as a therapist and life coach.
I help people with anxiety, depression, addiction, and relationship issues by helping them to see and focus on the desires that God placed in their heart. My formula is all about learning to focus on the principles of Desire, Vulnerable Resilience, and Fruit of the Spirit in everyday life.
In couples work, I don’t shy away from anything. I get right in the middle of what’s really creating the disturbance beneath the surface patterns. I love helping partners move beyond their conflict patterns that keep them stuck in relationships. The end goal is simple: to help you create the relationship dynamics that match the wonderful relationship you both long to experience.
When people learn to honor their God-given freedom to choose while also respecting the freedom of others to choose, relationships and reality begin to change in beautiful ways. I want to share the wonderful ways of living that have brought so much joy to so many people! I look forward to hearing from you.
